Training Practice

Blackfriars is a teaching practice, meaning that we have medical students in the practice and teach at both an undergraduate and postgraduate level.

We have undergraduate students from the University of St Andrews who sit in with members of the practice team.  You will be asked prior to the consultation if you are happy for a student to sit in.  Please rest assured that all information in the consultation is confidential, and our students are well aware of this.

If you do not wish students in your consultation, just let us know.

We also have a GP speciality trainee (registrar) attached to the practice.  Our Registrar is a fully qualified doctor undergoing postgraduate training in General Practice and is normally with us for six months to a year.  They have their own clinics, and do house calls.  They may sit in with one of the other doctors during consultations or accompany one of the nursing staff or Health Visitors.

We are grateful to you for helping to train the doctors of the future.
